Tips for Reducing Takeout Waste

Tip 3:

Ask your favorite takeout location to ditch the paper receipt. Most paper receipts are not recyclable because they are printed on thermal paper, which is resistant to decomposition and contains Bisphenol A (BPA).

Tip 1:

When ordering takeout to eat at home, request minimal extras: no utensils, straws, condiments or napkins. These items generally are not recyclable and usually end up directly in the trash.

Tip 2:

As consumers, we can request less packaging with our food. When ordering directly from the restaurant, you can always ask which items use less packaging or if they can combine dishes into one container.
